| Mixing
With the vast improvements and cost reductions in consumer recording technology, it's now possible for bands and artists to produce their own recordings from home and maintain a high level of quality. In fact, quite often home recordists can create some of the most interesting sounding results and inventive techniques for getting their music down to tape (or harddrive). However, when it comes down to mixing and mastering, many home recordists end up frustrated with their results. Quality mixing and mastering takes a lot more than just gear... it takes years of experience and a trained ear. With the JimmyEther.com mixing and mastering service I am now providing my experience and abilities to home recordists and independent bands all over the world at an affordable price.
The concept is simple... you take all the time and care you want recording your album at home. I'll even help you through the process by offering recording advice in the recording tips section of the site or by chatting with you over the JimmyEther.com message board free of charge. Once you are done, you send me the unmixed tracks with instructions on what you have in mind and I'll take it from there. I'll complete the tracks and upload MP3 demos of the mixed and mastered tracks for you to approve or suggest changes. In the end, you will end up with a high quality CD master ready to send to the CD Replicators.
I can mix from nearly every digital harddrive format (ProTools, Cubase, Cakewalk, etc.), as well as 1/2" 8-track, 1/2" 4-track, and even 4-track cassette. Other formats (like ADAT, DA-88, and Roland HD) may be possible for an additional data transfer fee. The cost may vary based on the production needs, but I can generally complete mixing and mastering between $300 and $400 per song depending on format and whether or not you want analog mixing.
